As 2012 begins, I took a look back the various events and people which I captured during my time as curate in Kilmichel from 1980 to 1986. Here is a random selection, chosen mostly because they had survived in better condition that the rest.

At a rings tournament in Hurley's Bar, Johnstown. John Crowley, Droumlough, Paddy Hickey, Gloun RIP, Nell Cronin, Maria Daly, Pauline Horgan.

December 1983. Mrs Julia Twomey, Cooldaniel (Julia Whooley) raises a glass as she celebrates her 100th birthday with her family and friends in her son's bar in Conna. Julia went on to live to be 105, dying on 05 March 1988 RIP.

1981. At a Pioneer Social. Paddy Foley RIP, President of Kilmichael Pioneer Centre makes a presentation to Sheila and Simon Foley to mark the occasion of their marriage in January of that year. Also included is Fr Séan Burke, RIP, Spiritual Director of the Mid West Cork Pioneer Region at that time and a native of Ballina, Toames.
